I believe we have great teachers and they  are learning how to be even better teachers in our faculty meetings and professional development training days.  Students have two days off of school, so the teachers can take time to learn.  On Thursday we will be working at school and learning some more teaching techniques and 21st Century skills.  On Friday we are heading out to Lutheran High School North for a day full of learning.  I strongly believe that if we want our students to learn, our teachers need to keep learning.  I want to just share with you about one of our new teachers, Mrs. Brown.

Mrs. Brown, although new to full time teaching, isn't new to Holt Lutheran Schools.  She was a student teacher last year.  This year she is finding her way into a full teaching position.  Besides teaching Math and Religion, she is helping out our athletics program.  Mrs. Brown has been a leading teacher in the area of using technology to enhance her classroom discussions and to engage the students.

Mrs. Brown showed off one of her lessons for Math during grandparents day.  She is using our brand new Mimio interactive whiteboard system.  She is able to manipulate her computer and programs from the whiteboard.  This day, they were play a team game, where she would pull a question from mystery box.  The team would have to answer the question.  If they answer it correctly, they got to spin the score spinner to see how many points they recieve.

This is just one use of our interactive system.  Throughout the year, the teachers will be using the interactive system to engage the students.  My goal is to get an interactive system in each classroom.  If you have any questions about our interactive system, or want to see it in use, please contact me.
